Former Photographic Technician retires after 37 years

Maureen Pilkington, clerical officer in the Department of Philosophy has retired after 37 years of service.

Maureen started at the University as a Photographic Technician in the Central Photographic Service (CPS) and many readers of Precinct will have seen her photographs of staff, students, animals and royal visits across campus.

In 1998, CPS closed and Maureen was redeployed to Materials Science as a Lab Technician and the graphics department in the Geography before having a complete change of career and joining Philosophy in 2000 dealing with postgraduate and examination administration.

Maureen said: “Having spent 25 years ‘in the dark’ and worked in four extremely nice and friendly departments, I will miss all the people I have met over the years.”
