Honours for University associates

The Duke of Westminster was Patron of the University's Veterinary Development campaign

A number of University associates have been recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list.

The Duke of Westminster, an honorary graduate of the University, was appointed a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. The Duke of Westminster was Patron of the University’s Veterinary Development Campaign which funded the Small Animal Teaching Hospital.

Director of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM), Professor Janet Hemingway, was awarded a CBE for services to the control of tropical disease vectors. Professor Hemingway has been Director of LSTM since 2001.

Professor Chris Gaskell, a former Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the University, was awarded a CBE for services to veterinary medicine and agriculture. Professor Gaskell, who is also a former Dean of Veterinary Science at the University, is now Principal of the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester, a post he took up in 2007.

Jack Stopforth, former Chief Executive of Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, was awarded an MBE for services to regeneration. Mr Stopforth is a member of the Management School’s advisory board.
