Professor Sue Wray, new Editor in Chief

Professor Sue Wray, from the Department of Cellular and Molecular Physiology has been appointed as the Founding Editor in Chief to a new open access journal that is being jointly launched by The Physiological Society (TPS) and American Physiological Society (APS).

Physiological Reports will be the first new journal of the Physiology Society in 100 years, and the first fully open access online-only journal for the two societies.

Peer-reviewed research

The journal will offer peer-reviewed research across all areas of basic, translational and clinical physiology and allied disciplines for physiologists, neuroscientists, biophysicists and clinicians. It will join their combined portfolio of peer-reviewed print and online subscription-based scientific journals, such as the American Journal of Physiology, The Journal of Physiology, and Experimental Physiology.

Professor Wray is the first ever female Editor in Chief for any Physiological Society journal.

Commenting on her appointment, Professor Wray said: “I am thrilled to have asked to take up position as Editor in Chief. It is an exciting venture which I think will be warmly welcomed by the community, and I’m very much looking forward to the challenge of starting this new journal.”
