Top level results of the University’s Staff Survey are now available on the Achieving Excellence website.
Over 2,800 (56%) of staff responded, compared with 52% in the last Staff Survey which took place in 2010.
Areas of strength identified in the findings included:
“¢ University is a good place to work
“¢ People generally enjoy their work
“¢ People say their work is varied and interesting to them
“¢ People say their work gives them a sense of achievement
“¢ People are interested in the University; to them it is not just a job
“¢ Equality and diversity – people say that they are treated with respect and fairly
Areas of improvement that were reported included:
“¢ Workload and Bureaucracy
“¢ Communication
“¢ Managing Change
“¢ Facilities
The confidential survey was conducted by Capita Surveys and Research on behalf of the University during November and December 2013, to gather views and opinions on a range of issues that contribute to satisfaction with their working life.
Roadshows
Staff are invited to hear more details at a series of roadshows next week, where the headline results for our institution will be presented by David Evans, consultant from Capita Surveys and Research.
The sessions will provide details of the survey findings, including areas for improvement and areas of strength. They will also include details about how the results, including more detailed Faculty, Institute, School and Departmental reports, will be disseminated across the University and how action planning and improvement reporting will take place.
The presentations are scheduled to take place on:
Wednesday 26 February, 10-11.30am, Electrical Engineering 201 (E1)
Thursday 27 February, 12-1.30pm, Brunner Lecture Theatre, Chemistry Building
Thursday 27 February, 2-3.30pm, Lecture Theatre 1, Rendall Building
