University to host prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering lecture

Professor Dame Dowling is the first woman to be elected President of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The University’s School of Engineering will host the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering’s North West lecture.

The lecture, “The Future of Civil Nuclear Research in the UK”, will be given by Paul Howarth (FREng) and Richard Taylor (FREng)  from the National Nuclear Laboratories (NNL). 

The event will include a Poster Competition to showcase the work of young research engineers attending from the universities of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Sheffield.

The President of The Royal Academy of Engineering – Professor Dame Ann Dowling (FRS, FREng) – will be attending the lecture and will also take the opportunity to talk with engineers and scientists about developing long-term relationships with industry.

Dame Dowling is an expert on silent aircraft and is the first woman to be elected President of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

The lecture will take place Wednesday, 11 March at 5.30pm in the Walker Lecture Theatre.
