Major communications professionals deliver free talks as part London MSc Strategic Communications

High profile public and private sector communications professionals will deliver public seminars at the University of Liverpool’s London campus, as part of the MSc Strategic Communications programme.

Alex Aiken, Executive Director of Government Communications, heads a list that also includes John Gollifer, from the Investor Relations Society; Channel 4’s Marion Bentley and Melanie Archer, formerly of Africa Research Institute, who will discuss developing a communications strategy specifically for NGOs.

The programme opens on Monday November 14, with John Gollifer sharing insight into financial markets and the key relationship between companies and investors.

John is followed a week later by Alex Aiken, who will consider the purpose and practice of public service communication, on November 23.

Melanie Archer will be at the University’s Finsbury Square campus on Monday November 28. Melanie is currently Digital Editor of the BBC’s Media Action Insight blog.

Channel 4’s Marion Bentley will deliver a talk on strategic communications for PR in television on Wednesday December 7.

All of the above events are open to the public, and will include refreshments.

University of Liverpool staff and students are also invited to attend a further series of talks, hosted at the University’s London campus and also part of the MSc Strategic Communications programme.

A one day workshop on crisis communications will be led by Paul Vallance, of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, on Thursday December 1.

Marco De Angeli, from ABC Production, is bringing two one day workshops to the series. The first takes place on Monday December 5, with the second part a week later on Monday December 12. Both will focus on the advertising process, and how to bring a brief from conception to broadcast.

The final event in the series features Unilever’s Sue Garrard, who will talk under the title, Brand purpose: fad or future? on Tuesday December 13.

The second part of the series of talks is only open to University of Liverpool staff and students.
