International Women’s Day in Liverpool, 2018

Today is International Women’s Day and we wanted to share a number of events that are taking place across Liverpool.

The theme for this year is  #PressforProgress and the organisation behind International Women’s Day are calling for friends, colleagues and communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.

Business Breakfast: The Business of Equality – 8am, 8 March 2018

Join us for breakfast and a number of talks on gender equality in the workplace. The event, which is organised with the University of Liverpool Management School and The Women’s Organisation, is free to attend. Speakers include:

  • Maggie O’Carroll, The Women’s Organisation
  • Professor Caroline Gatrell: Knowing your place – A Study of Equality at Work
  • Dr Laura Radcliffe: Invisible barriers – Our role in overcoming subconscious gender inequalities
  • Phil Bramhall, Bramhall’s Solicitors: Observations from the business/legislation perspective

The event will last for two hours, from 8am – 10am on Thursday, 8 March. Please register for the event.

Lunch and workshop: Confidence and communication techniques – 12:30pm, 8 March 2018

Girl Geeks are running a Be Your Own Role Model workshop at The Shed in Liverpool for International Women’s Day. The event is being run by Ngunan Adamu, a BBC Merseyside presenter/producer. Ngunan is also the founder of the iWoman Academy – a training programme that uses radio to empower women. During the workshop, a range of communication and confidence techniques will be covered. This is a women-only event and booking is essential.

 

Inspirational women at the Museum of Liverpool – 1pm, 8 March 2018

The Museum of Liverpool have organised a tour of inspirational women who feature in the Museum. The event is free to attend and no booking is necessary. You can find out more via the Museum of Liverpool’s website.

 

This Girl Can Liverpool – Various times and dates

From Dragon Boat Racing to Walking Netball, there’s a whole host of activities you can try as part of This Girl Can Liverpool. Although you can try the events for free throughout the year, you might like to mark this year’s International Women’s Day by getting involved.
