Thousands expected at University’s Open Days

The University is set to welcome thousands of visitors for its summer season of Open Days.

The events, which take place on Friday, 22 June and Saturday, 23 June, give prospective students and their parents the opportunity to find out more about the University, its courses, and the city. The University is expecting a 12% increase in visitors to the campus this year following increased interest and registrations for the summer Open Days.

There is a packed schedule of tours, talks and activities on offer, including welcome presentations, visits to accommodation and demonstrations from academic departments. At this year’s Open Days, visitors can get a flavour of the city of Liverpool with student-led walking tours of the city centre and a new ‘Careers in the City’ coach tour.

Research suggests that more students than ever are using Open Days to help them make informed decisions about their future careers. The number of students registering for Liverpool events has grown each year, providing opportunities to showcase academic programmes, new accommodation, and teaching facilities to thousands of prospective applicants.

Ian Roberts, Director of Student Recruitment, Admissions and Widening Participation, said: “Our Open Days are in most cases the first opportunity for us to meet prospective students interested in joining the University for the 2018/2019 academic year.

“We’re delighted to see an increase in the number of registered students for our Open Days, which is very positive for the 2019 recruitment cycle. I’d like to thank a wide range of colleagues working together to make the Open Days a success and a good experience for visitors to our campus and the city of Liverpool.”

The University has negotiated a range of discounts for visitors to the city – on accommodation, food, and the City Explorer bus tour. Further details are available here: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/open-days-and-visits/what-to-expect-at-open-day/city-information/
