Legal advice for parents and carers available at the Liverpool Law Clinic

The Liverpool Law Clinic is open for appointments from Monday, 8 October for range of legal advice and services for parents and carers of a child with a disability or illness.

Parents and carers of children with disabilities or illnesses can have difficulty accessing legal advice and often have a particular range of legal needs. The clinic can offer a one – off appointment with an in-house solicitor, supported by our students, followed by a letter of advice on a range of issues impacting on your child’s quality of life.

Clinics will be held in an office nearby the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. Contact the clinic in advance to make an appointment. Alternatively appointments will be given on a first come, first served basis.

Services include:

  • Support from the Local Authority including assessments, short breaks services, holiday play schemes, care at home, aids and adaptations, financial help with travel costs, direct payments
  • Welfare Benefits general advice about entitlement to benefits related to a child’s disability, including disability living allowance, carers allowance and blue badges
  • Special educational needs provision

Please note that the clinic is unable to provide advice in relation to care and treatment received at the hospital. Clinic Lawyers are regulated by the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
