Visit Liverpool One’s Christmas Lights
Liverpool One’s iconic multi-coloured Christmas tree on Paradise street, is not only a well-known symbol that Christmas is on its way, but is a wonderful excuse to walk the streets and wonder at the magic of Christmas. With the Christmas light switch on event on November 16th, there is almost 6 weeks of opportunity to visit the exhibit, ‘Polaris’, in Chavasse Park developed by Mark Robinson. The phenomenal 88 colour changing cubes will not disappoint after Christmas shopping on a dark winters night.
Go to the ‘Rock and Roll’ Pantomime at the Everyman Theatre
If this event has not been on your radar, it sure should be. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Pantomime is performed from November 24th to January 19th, and is a spectacle not to be missed. With well-known songs to sing-along to and a great adaptation this year of ‘The Snow Queen’. Remember your ponchos during this performance as water gun’s provide for great audience participation. There are also great deals for students with the Everyman Theatre offering £5 student tickets with their YEP Membership, for shows throughout the year.
Go for a Christmas Drink at ‘The Miracle on Seel Street’
For a more sophisticated night in the city, join friends and venture to find one of Liverpool’s secret bars… although this one is Christmas themed! With Christmas cocktails and entrees, you can enjoy sitting in a cosy armchair next to a fireplace, with the Grinch’s portrait shining off the walls. Christmas movie nights are also offered here, so prepare yourself to guzzle a ‘Naughty or Nice Hot Cocoa’ with a viewing of Elf on Christmas Eve! Look out for the door with the Christmas wreath!
Get a Hot Chocolate at St. Luke’s Winter Wonderland
This year, the well-known landmark the ‘Bombed out Church’, is hosting its own Winter Wonderland event with the opportunity for kids to meet the big man himself – Santa in his grotto. But there is also the chance to grab some festive goodies, with a bar area, Christmas lights and a market to enjoy on a cold winter night. This event is running from December 1st to December 23rd.
Get your Skates on and go for an Ice Skate on the Albert Dock
This year, outside the iconic Liver-building, there is an ice skating rink which is not to be missed over the festive period. Take your friends or partner to an evening of feeling like Bambi on ice! With top Christmas tunes and fascinating light displays, it is a pre-determined winter night of high-quality Christmas entertainment. If Ice Skating isn’t your specialty, Penguin skate aids are provided to allow for a more graceful skate. This event is running until January 6th and is only £11 with a valid student card. Not to be missed!
Visit the Palm House in Sefton Park for a Movie Night
A stroll in Sefton park in the Winter months, is known to be wonderful, with the fallen leaves and crisp air along the lake, a great way to escape the city for the day. To top this, the incredibly historic Palm House is offering Christmas Movie nights on the run up to the big day. With films such as Home Alone and It’s a Wonderful Life. It is a night destined to bring you holiday cheer.
Enjoy a Roller-coaster ride at Liverpool’s Christmas Ice Festival
If you are a thrill seeker, this event may be the best way to get yourself into the Christmas State of mind. With a great offering of rides for all your adrenaline needs… even the tea-cups. If roller-coasters aren’t your idea of fun, there are also a range of stalls to enjoy from fudge to gifts. A stroll along the Pier Head is very much suggested, as the atmosphere is not one to be missed. This event is running from November 10th to January 6th, outside the Liver building, along Pier Head.
Get a Yorkshire Pudding Wrap at St. George’s Hall
Yorkshire pudding wraps last year stormed the internet, with people traveling far and wide to take a glimpse of this magical wonder which was brought to us during the festive period. Luckily, we have the ability to bring you all the joys of Christmas with a Yorkshire Pudding wrap stall outside St. George’s hall… But don’t be afraid, there are also alternative options with hog roasts, German sausages and sweet treats available. The German markets are running from November 16th to December 23rd opposite Lime Street Station, definitely not one to miss this year!
