European Parliament elections: Register to vote

If the UK takes part in the European Parliament elections on Thursday, 23 May, to be able to vote you need to register by midnight on Tuesday, 7 May 2019.

To register, complete the online registration form on the government website.

Registration should only take five minutes.

Am I eligible to vote in the EU Parliament elections?

To be eligible to vote, you need to be registered and be one of the following:

  • 18 years of age or over on polling day
  • a British citizen, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of the European Union
  • resident in the UK
  • a UK citizen living abroad who has been registered to vote in the UK in the last 15 years
  • not be subject to any legal incapacity to vote

EU citizens living in the UK

If you’re an EU citizen and you’re living in the UK, you can either vote in the UK or in your home country. You can’t vote twice. You’ll find more information about voting in the European Parliament elections via the government website.
