The University of Liverpool’s Mathematics School will be holding a number of open evenings and taster sessions this autumn for prospective students and their parents to find out about the School’s curriculum, facilities and application process.
Opening in September 2020, the University of Liverpool’s Maths School is the first specialist Maths School for sixth formers in the North of England.
Aimed at young people who love maths, physics and computing, the School is a learning community in which talented students are supported and challenged by passionate teachers who are experts in their subjects.
The school is recruiting 80 students to start Year 12 in September 2020 to study A-Levels in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics, alongside an ambitious curriculum intended to deepen each student’s mathematical abilities, academic maturity and career potential.
Open evenings provide an opportunity for potential students and parents/guardians to find out more about the Maths School, its exciting curriculum and how to apply. There will be taster lessons and tours taking place throughout the evening. Plus you can chat to Headteacher Damian Haigh about his vision and ethos for Liverpool’s newest sixth form.
Staff will also be available throughout the evening to answer any questions. Taster day sessions will provide potential students with the opportunity to experience what it will be like to study at the School. These sessions, which take place on Saturday mornings, will include activities such as intriguing mathematical puzzles, conundrums and quizzes.
Headteacher, Damian Haigh, said: “Our open evenings and taster sessions are a the best way to find out what Liverpool’s new maths specialist sixth form has to offer. I would encourage anyone who would like to find out more about the School to come along to one of these fun and informal sessions.”
