Enterprise Fund: Apply now to secure £500 kick-start funding

If you have a fantastic idea for a business, apply to our Enterprise Fund competition and you could win up to £500 to kick-start your venture.

What is the Enterprise Fund?

The Enterprise Fund, which is run by the University in partnership with Santander Universities, supports student initiatives and is open to our undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as recent graduates. We are looking for students who have a passion, drive and commitment to make their idea a reality. You can enter as an individual, or as part of a group.

Last year, the Enterprise Fund supported more than ten student entrepreneurs to turn their business idea into a reality. Successful projects included; Sophron, a discount card that encourages a lifestyle that is mindful of one’s mental health, aiPatient, a platform that enables students to improve their diagnostic skills by communicating with AI patients, and Portal Talento, an Ecuador-based start-up which encourages businesses to offer employment opportunities to young adults.

What could I win?

If you are successful, you could secure up to £500 worth of funding that you can use to:

  • Support and develop innovative projects
  • Fund training courses to develop business skills
  • Travel to enterprise competitions or conferences.

Moises Barbera Ramos (pictured above) received funding for his project Affordable and Universal Smart Home, adapted for students with a fast-paced life. Moises is studying for his master’s in Physics and works on his start-up during his spare time. He used the funding to register the brand, develop a demo of an Android mobile application that can connect to several devices, and purchased several third-party devices to test the demo. Moises’s next step is to set up a crowdfunding campaign, and take the product to market.

“I could not fail to thank Santander enough, because it is really thanks to the fund that we can make this business possible.”
