Virtual events and activities to take part in this week: 27 April – 3 May 2020

This week is Wellbeing Week – albeit a little different this year!

As we are not physically on campus, due to social distancing measures, we have moved our wellbeing events and activities online.

Taking care of your wellbeing is as important now, if not more, than ever. By staying at home you’re helping to protect yourself, family, NHS, and community, but a consequence might be that you feel isolated, worried, and anxious, or you could be concerned about your health, or the health of others.

This is why it is really important to take care of your mind as well as your body, and to make sure you get any support that you need. To help, here are some ‘wellbeing’ virtual events and activities, all of which align to the NHS’s 5 steps to mental wellbeing, that are taking place over the next 7 days:

1. Guided Meditation Session

An opportunity to take a moment of relaxation and reflection with the Meditation Society.

2. Workout in your halls bedroom

Join our Residential Adviser, and trained Les Mills instructor – Mahdi – in this BodyPump class with no equipment – just things you’ll have in your bedroom!

3. Digital Time Capsule

We are living through history right now so what better way to capture this moment in time and have something to share with friends, family and loved ones in the future.

4. Peer Mentors in KnowHow: Managing your time when studying online

This session will be delivered by Heather Johnston from the KnowHow Team along with Peer Mentor, Caitlin Cooney. It will help you to consider ways to manage your time when studying online.

5. VIRTUALCONNECT by Careers & Employability

An extension of the CareerConnect programme, VirtualConnect is a programme of remote events designed to help you stay connected with employers. This week’s line-up includes, Grant Thornton, EY and The University Of Law.

7. Language Lounge Online

Language Lounge Online is a virtual meeting-place where you can come and chat to other students, improve your conversation skills or just say hello and ask a question.

8. Romeo and Juliet (2009) for free | Globe Player | Shakespeare’s Globe

Watch Romeo and Juliet for free, with Ellie Kendrick and Adetomiwa Edun as the star-crossed lovers, filmed from Shakespeare’s most famous stage, the Globe Theatre.
