Apply to be a Peer Mentor

Starting university can be a daunting time for some, which is why we’ve introduced our Peer Mentoring Scheme to help new students settle into their time at Liverpool.

Whether it’s organising a social event, signposting students to events and activities, catching up over a cuppa, or sharing a day in the life of your university experience, you’ll be there at those trying times when your peers need you the most!

We’re now looking for students to apply to train as Peer Mentors for the next academic year.

What will you get from the role?

  • The satisfaction of supporting new students with the transition to university life
  • You will gain accreditation on your HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) issued by the Higher Education Academy as a companion to your degree certificate
  • Developmental opportunities for those interested in pursuing a career in health and wellbeing
  • As a Peer Mentor you will automatically have priority access to specific events

You will receive training to support you in delivering mentoring to students in your faculty. You will also be provided you with a number of activities to carry out during your time in the role, as well as specific tasks to complete for your HEAR accreditation.

What will we need from you?

  • To attend 3 training courses
  • To assist with wellbeing week both University-wide and within your faculty
  • To independently use Handshake to monitor mentee queries and establish drop-in sessions
  • To deliver general wellbeing sessions via webinars
  • To hold drop-in sessions for mentees
  • To assist in designing and developing resources for mentees
