Virtual events, activities and careers support available this week

Wherever you are spending the spring break, while we are still in lockdown, we know it can be tricky to find things to do to keep busy!

Each week we’re rounding up some of the best virtual events, activities and careers support you can access from home. Don’t forget to download the ‘My Liverpool’ app to view all events and create your own personalised planner.

1. Liverpool Biennial

Liverpool Biennial is the UK’s largest festival of contemporary visual art. We have now opened ‘from the outside in’. You can visit public work outdoors across the city and interact with our digital commissions and online learning programme. New content will be added throughout the festival period – sign up here to stay posted.

From May we throw open the doors to all our exhibition venues, revealing the full programme of artists.

2. Documentary Making by iPhone

A new programme from delivered by award winning TV producer Ged Clarke. Learn how to make a short documentary that can be broadcast online, on TV, or simply shown to potential employers.

3. TeaTalk

Grab a hot drink, cosy spot and fire up your phone or laptop – it’s time to make some zoom BFFs from the comfort of your own living space.

4. Get fit with Sport Liverpool

Activities can still be accessed online, including the live streaming of our own classes as well as well as on-demand platforms from ‘ Wellbeats’ and ‘Les Mills’.

5. River of Light Trail 2021

An outdoor illuminated art gallery is set to take over Liverpool’s world-famous waterfront.

Bringing together 11 stunning audio and visual installations, the trail across Liverpool’s iconic waterfront will open hours after the city stages a special online event reflecting on the impact a year of lockdown has had on Liverpool and its communities.

When: Tuesday 23 March to Monday 5 April, 6PM – 10.30PM every night.

6. Managing Stress and Anxiety

In just an hour you will develop a clear understanding of stress. You will learn a simple way of transforming your negative stress. You will discover your own resources of ease and calm and learn how to use them in your daily life.

7. Interested in learning digital skills & sharing your knowledge?

The Careers & Employability team are recruiting 18 undergraduate students to work as Digital Coaches on part-time paid internships from Summer 2021. Open to penultimate year students with a permanent home address in the Liverpool City Region

8. Happy Not Perfect: Meditation with Poppy

Join us for a short and calming meditation using breathwork. Use this time to wind down the mind so you can think with more clarity and release any stress or anxiety.

9. Study Group Session

10. The Firestarters – Innovation & Entrepreneurship

Firestarters is an exciting and innovative virtual festival designed to ignite a million conversations and raise money for leading mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness and the youth support charity UK Youth.

11. Motion Graphics and Titles for Film and Television
