The University has received a student satisfaction score of 79% in the 2021 National Student Survey, placing it 3% above the sector average and seventh in the Russell Group.
Within the Russell Group, the University’s 79% overall satisfaction places it above the University of Manchester, the University of Leeds and the University of Birmingham.
Scores in ten subject areas were well above the sector average, including Mechanical Engineering, Nursing and Music. We are also 2% above the sector average for the Teaching on my Course.
Professor Gavin Brown, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education said: “We are pleased that students have reported high levels of satisfaction and our placing within the Russell Group is a real achievement.
“Within the current context and given the major disruption caused by the pandemic, these results are testament to the dedication of our entire University community.
“There is, of course, more to do to improve on our institutional satisfaction score, as well as scores in a number of subject areas. We know this has been a difficult year and the feedback from this year’s survey will help us address areas with lower scores.
“I would like to thank every student who completed the survey – your feedback is crucial to our constant efforts to improve.”
What is the National Student Survey?
The National Student Survey is commissioned annually by the Office for Students and invites final year undergraduate students for feedback about their courses. The results are used by both the University and the Guild to enhance students’ learning experience. The results are also published on Discover Uni to help prospective students decide which university might be right for them.
