Introducing the new Year Abroad programme for Liverpool students

Year Abroad

The Global Opportunities Team, previously known as Study Abroad, are excited to share a brand-new opportunity for University of Liverpool students: The Year Abroad!

What is the Year Abroad?

The Year Abroad offers the chance for students to spend an academic year at one of our partner universities, and is an amazing opportunity to expand both your academic, and cultural horizons.

During the Year Abroad you will take a mixture of modules, gaining new and exciting knowledge that will complement your degree studies back in Liverpool. There are also numerous personal benefits to studying abroad and experiencing living in a new country. These include:

  • Increased inter-cultural understanding
  • Greater self-confidence
  • Gained confidence to travel overseas independently.

When would I go on the Year Abroad?

When you would go depends on the length of your degree programme. If your application is successful:

  • If you’re on a standard 3-year degree, you’ll go abroad between Year 2 and Year 3 (apply in Year 2)
  • If you’re on a 4-year integrated masters or a 5-year clinical programme, you can go either between Year 2 and 3 (apply in Year 2) OR Year 3 and 4 (apply in Year 3)

The start date of the Year Abroad depend on your host university, with the earliest departures for this new programme taking place in July 2022.

How can I find out more?

Full details, including how to apply, will be launched as part of Global Opportunities Week from 8-12 November 2021 – but the team wanted to make sure you were ready to learn about the programme as the very first cohort of students that can apply for this new unique opportunity!

You can find some more information about the new Year Abroad programme on the Global Opportunities website. Make sure that you mark 9 November 2021 in your calendar for the Global Opportunities Fair and look out for more details about Global Opportunities Week and all the events you can join.
