Winter Break – Support and Activities: What’s happening this week

We understand that some of you will be staying on campus over the winter break. During this time there are plenty of events and activities to take part in, if you want to.

1. Winter Wellbeing Peer Mentor Event

Join our KnowHow and Student Support teams to find out about exam support, and talk to Sport Liverpool about staying healthy and well whilst away from University. Get help in setting goals to keep you motivated over Christmas, and help you feel relaxed and ready for your exams.

There will also be chance to talk to our Peer Mentors about other support available, and get general advice around wellbeing.

2. Halls activity packs

We are really pleased that we will be continuing the Halls Activity packs over the festive period. As usual the packs are first come, first served and are limited. It is extremely important that you register for a pack, and register for one pack per flat as we want to make sure everyone remaining in halls has a fair opportunity to take part.

3. Ice-skating at the Pierhead

Set within the magical Liverpool Waterfront backdrop, Liverpool Ice Festival transports you into a frozen winter wonderland.

When: Open every day except Christmas Day until 3 January 2022.

We recommend taking regular lateral flow tests throughout the winter break, especially when visiting crowded places.


4, Liverpool Guild of Students Big Pub Quiz

Round up your dream quiz team, get your team name ready (you can do better than You’re a Quizzard Harry!) and get ready to storm to victor in our weekly Pub Quiz.

5. Keep fit with Sport Liverpool

As well as using the on-campus facilities, there are independent campus activities which students can access such as 1, 2 or 5k walks and online workout sessions.

6. Liverpool Christmas Markets

The Liverpool Christmas Market is the perfect mix of local food, drinks and craft traders offering the very best in a wide range of delicious treats and seasonal delights. Our city is world famous for its wonderful retail offering and the central location of the Christmas Market makes it the perfect pit stop on any shopping trip. Having missed last year – we are hoping 2021 will be the best year yet with even more to eat, drink, purchase and see!

7. Princes Park Run

A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you!

8. Liverpool Guild Clean-up

Join us for a volunteering activity of cleaning rubbish at the University. We will be holding this event at Liverpool Guild. This is a great activity for data collection and experience in your local environment.

9. Royal Albert Dock Light walk

The much-loved Light Trail has returned this year to the dock. Download the map and specially curated Christmas playlist and explore the illuminated waterfront dressed with millions of twinkling lights along with Triton, Neptune, Bella & Bertie.

10. Poetry Walk at Calderstones Park

Go on a restorative walk around the park, accompanied by some nourishing poems. No walking or reading experience required. These walks are a great way to get active, learn something and meet others.
