How you can help leave Liverpool tidy this summer

Liverpool terraced street

The end of the academic year is almost here, and many of you will be moving out of your halls, flats or houses. We all have a responsibility to leave our community tidy, and below we’ve outlined some of the schemes in place to help you do this.

Leave Liverpool Tidy initiative

The Sustainability Team has partnered with the British Heart Foundation to Leave Liverpool Tidy. The project aims to reduce the amount of reusable items that go into landfill and redistribute them to those who need them.

If you’re leaving Liverpool, you can gather any items that you do not wish to move to your new place and bring them – using a reusable bag – to one of the below drop-off points.

The scheme accepts all items except duvets, pillows, broken and dirty items, knives, hangers, and underwear.

Food items are collected separately at drop-off points in all Halls listed, in the Guild ‘Street’ and at the Sydney Jones and Harold Cohen libraries. Only unopened dried foods, tins and jars still in date are accepted – these items will be distributed to local food banks.

If you live in halls you can leave bagged items in the following permanent on-site donation banks:

  • Outside at Vine Court, Dover Court, Greenbank and Peach Street Car Park
  • There are also pop-up drop off points in reception areas at: Vine Court, Greenbank, Dover Court, Philharmonic Court, Crown Place, The Guild (‘Street’ near Starbucks)

If you need a bag or have any queries, please contact Laela Purvis Greenway, Sustainability Manager, on laela.purvis-greenway@liverpool.ac.uk
