Applications for the Alumni and Friends Fund grant are now open

Students, staff and societies can apply for funding of up to £5,000 through the Alumni and Friends Fund grant to support activities that offer wide benefit, support the student experience, provide students with opportunities not otherwise available to them (academic or extracurricular), offer long-term benefit and/or enable students and the University to engage with the local community.

The Alumni and Friends Fund is the University of Liverpool’s annual fundraising initiative, run by the Development and Alumni Relations team, which raises funds from alumni, graduates, friends, and staff. In addition to supporting the University’s fundraising priorities, a proportion of unrestricted funding is made available to fund one-off projects across the University.

Last academic year, the Alumni and Friends Fund grant was awarded to nine projects which met a variety of different needs, including supporting the Liverpool Women’s Handball team to attend their first European Championships in Poland, to expanding the development of the Experimental Archaeology Centre at the University’s Botanic Gardens at Ness.

The Liverpool Women’s Handball team said: “Thank you to the supporters of the Alumni and Friends Fund. Handball is a very small sport in the UK; our clubs rarely have an opportunity in European competition and our national teams sometimes can’t even compete in qualification tournaments. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for every single player on the women’s team.”

If you have an idea that will benefit students, staff, or the University as a whole, please send us your application. Applications are invited from students, representatives from clubs and societies registered with the Guild of Students or Athletics Union, and University of Liverpool academic and professional services staff.

Submissions close on Friday, 4 November 2022. For more information and to apply, visit: www.liverpool.ac.uk/alumni-friends-grant.
