Volunteering opportunities to get involved with this month

volunteering

Volunteering is a great way to enhance your CV, make friends, and boost your personal skills, whilst also giving something back to the wider community.

There are lots of volunteering opportunities on campus, in the local area, and beyond. Here are just a few of the many opportunities currently on offer:

Eurovision Arts & Culture Volunteer at Liverpool Cathedral

With 100,000 additional visitors predicted to visit Merseyside when it hosts Eurovision in May, the team at Liverpool Cathedral are looking for volunteers to help with their programme of events.

This is a short-term volunteering opportunity to support a unique and inspiring installation as part of the Euro Festival.

Volunteers are requiredfrom the 28 April to the 19 May to support front of house, ensuring all visitors to the Cathedral have a safe and enjoyable experience.

The team would particularly welcome volunteers with a passion for arts and culture, as well as candidates who speak a second language to help welcome an international audience.

Dig Deep Ambassador

Become an ambassador for Dig Deep, an international development charity, by inspiring, recruiting and supporting a team of new fundraisers to climb Kilimanjaro with you in 2024.

As a Team Leader at Liverpool you will learn and develop key skills in leadership, event management, recruitment and digital marketing along with experiencing the trip of a lifetime to East Africa at a discounted price next summer. Together you will change the lives of thousands of school children by providing them with access to clean water and sanitation through your fundraising efforts.

Many of our previous team leaders enthuse about how this opportunity has been “the single most rewarding experience of their life” and how it has helped them secure employment upon graduation.

Wirral Unplugged Event Volunteer

Wirral Unplugged is a non-profit community group which aims to make learning fun, promote imagination, creativity and screen-free time, and to encourage wellbeing and reduce social isolation.

They do this through themed events and by designing eco-friendly boxes full of crafts, games and activities for families and children 3-10.

They need students to help out with Wirral MakeFest taking place on June 3 – and are looking for organisers, foodies, photograhers, videographers, and reporters.

Leave Liverpool Tidy Volunteer

The Guild’s Leave Liverpool Tidy project is back, and we need you! In collaboration with the British Heart Foundation, volunteers will be helping to reduce, reuse and recycle our way to a tidier Liverpool.

Activities will run throughout the semester, and will include:

  • Litter Picks
  • CPR Training
  • Swap-Shops
  • Zero Waste cooking sessions (GiaG activity)
  • Food collection
  • Clothes and Homeware collections

In addition to these fun, sustainability-focused activities, volunteers will be helping with a project at the end of the year to distribute charity boxes, bags, and information flyers around halls of residence and student dense residential areas. This aims to encourage students to donate their unwanted clothes, homeware and food to the charities in order to avoid unnecessary waste and environmental implications.

Campus Children’s Holidays Group Leader

Campus Children’s Holidays is looking for adults to volunteer on our summer projects! Volunteers will act as group leaders and look after a small group of children on one week of the summer project.

During the day, volunteers will accompany the children on activities which include a trip to the beach, roller blading and a theme park!

In the evening volunteers will be on site with the children, and look after them while they play on the bouncy castle and assault course, or relax in the crafts room.

Campus is a great opportunity to not only have a huge amount of fun yourself but also develop skills working with children and as part of a team.
