If you need some extra support right now, there are teams across the University who are here to help.

You’ll find a list of the teams who can help you below. We’ve also included a number of resources at the bottom of this article you might find useful.

Teams who can help

Student Support Services

Our team of Wellbeing Advisers can provide initial advice and support on a wide range of issues that might be affecting you.

The team are based in the Alsop Building on University Square. You can book an appointment using the online booking system or contact the team via email on advice@liverpool.ac.uk.

Student Administration Helpdesk

The Student Administration team can help you with lots of issues. Right now, we know lots of our students are taking exams and handing in assessments.

If you think your exams or assessments have been affected by something unexpected, like an illness or bereavement, you can find out more about submitting an extenuating circumstance claim via the Student Administration webpages.

  • Student Administration staff can be found on the front desk at the Sydney Jones Library between 10am and 2pm, Monday to Friday

Health Assured advice

Health Assured offer students a free, confidential advice line, with help available to talk through any problem, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

You can call the 24/7 helpline for free on 0800 028 3766.

Organisations who offer listening services

The Samaritans and Papyrus offer free listening services.

  • Samaritans: call 116123 (24 hours, 365 days a year).
  • Papyrus: call 0800 068 41 41 (9am – 10pm weekdays, 2pm – 10pm at weekends and on bank holidays.

Emergency help: If you are on campus and feel unsafe, call campus support on 0151 794 2222 and they will come to help you. If you don’t feel that you can keep yourself safe, go to A&E or call 999 for an ambulance. If you don’t need immediate medical treatment and you’re unsure what the best option is for you, call NHS 111. You can find out more information via our ‘In a crisis now?’ page.

Academic support

The KnowHow team provide online academic support to help you with your studies.

Learning and Teaching Support Officers

Your school will have a Learning and Teaching Support Officer (LTSO) or a Student Experience Team who are available to support you. You can find contact details for your Learning and Teaching Support Officer by getting in touch with your School Office.

Academic staff

There are academics attached to each department who can provide support alongside your Learning and Teaching Support Officers and your Student Experience Team if you are struggling.

Peer Mentors

Our team of Peer Mentors are trained in wellbeing support and can help answer queries you might have. Our Peer Mentors can also suggest a team or professional individual who can help.

Chaplaincy Team

Our campus-based Chaplaincy team can provide pastoral and Muslim, Jewish or Christian faith support.

The Guild

The Guild offer free and confidential advice and are independent from the University.

Halls Wardens and Residential Advisors

If you live in one of our University Halls of Residence you should have been made aware of who your Hall Warden or Residential Advisor is who can be on hand to provide you with support.

Resources

Self-help hub

Our self-help hub has resources for a number of different topics including anxiety, depression, stress, imposter syndrome and sleep. You will find tips, guides, tools and activities to support and improve your mental health.

Sports Centre

Remember, you can access the Sports Centre for free during the exam and assessment period.

Extenuating Circumstances Policy

If you believe your performance in your exams or assessments has been affected by an illness, bereavement, IT difficulties or an unforeseeable event, read our Extenuating Circumstances Policy and our Extenuating Circumstances webpage to find out if you could submit a claim.

Cost of living

There are a number of things we can do to help you manage the challenges of the rising cost of living, whether it is with unexpected short-term costs, or with long-term financial management.

The KnowHow team have put together a series of resources that are full of useful advice, including online tutorials on Canvas where you will find materials to help get ready for your exams.
