Read up on wellbeing support and reach out if you need help

With World Mental Health Day just around the corner (10 October), here’s a reminder of how our Student Services team can support you throughout your time at Liverpool.

You can find them in the Student Life Building on University Square. Made up of several teams, they can help no matter what comes your way.

You can reach them by calling them on 0151 795 1000 or visit the Student Services website for information on how to book appointments.

They can support you with;

  • Mental Health and Wellbeing – the team offer a range of options to help you navigate university life, including wellbeing advice, counselling service, a mental health advisory service plus workshops and events. You can find more information on these and more on the Mental Wellbeing pages.
  • Disability Support – on these pages, you’ll find guidance on how to access disability-related study support, what study and assessment support is available, including funding options and much more. We encourage you to connect with our Disability Advice and Guidance team as early as possible to ensure you get the support you need. Simply upload your supporting documentation to the Student Services HUB. Our team will then reach out to discuss your specific needs. We’re here to help you succeed, so don’t hesitate to get in touch.
  • Money Advice & Guidance – Managing your finances while studying can be tough and we understand that everyone’s financial situation is different. Our money advisers provide tailored advice and support, helping you navigate any financial challenges you might face.
  • Visa and immigration support – Adjusting to life in a new country can be exciting but challenging. Our team is here to make your transition smoother. We offer support with everything from settling into UK life to visa advice and working while studying. Whatever you need, we’re here to help you feel at home. For queries relating to immigration documents and collecting your BRP contact: visa.collection@liverpool.ac.uk
  • Report + Support – as part of our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for you to study and live in, we encourage our students to report bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct, hate crime, assault or discrimination through Report + Support. It’s quick and easy to use, and you can tell us something has happened anonymously if you prefer.

In a crisis now? Immediate mental health support

In an emergency, or if you don’t feel that you can keep yourself safe, go to accident and emergency (A&E), or call 999 for an ambulance. Or you can contact your local NHS mental health crisis line. For Liverpool, call 0800 145 6570. If you’re outside of Liverpool, find your local mental health crisis line on the NHS website.

Many students find it helpful to call a listening service:

  • Samaritans call 116123 (24 hours, 365 days a year)
  • Papyrus call HopelineUK 0800 068 41 41 (9am-midnight, every day)

Health assured also provide a phone helpline for University of Liverpool students. You can talk to a trained counsellor anytime of the day or night by calling 0800 028 3766.

We also strongly recommend you see your GP as soon as possible.

If you have thoughts about harming yourself or ending your life but do not feel you are at immediate risk, Student Services offers a range of support that includes wellbeing advisors, counsellors, and the mental health advisory Service.

Email the team at advice@liverpool.ac.uk, or call 0151 795 1000 between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
