Today (21 January) the Secretary of State for Education, the Rt Hon Bridget Philipson MP, has released the short video message below for any international student who is thinking of coming to the UK to study.
In the video, she highlights a range of compelling reasons to choose to study in the UK, saying, “An education from a British university has been a springboard to success for so many global trailblazers, from politics to business, from the arts to the sciences.”
Speaking on the UK’s world-renowned research strengths she says, “our universities have driven some of the most exciting and valuable research anywhere in the world […]. You could be part of the next wave of groundbreaking research and join a new generation of inspiring leaders. Our universities will support you on that journey to succeed in your studies and get a fantastic job when you finish, whether this is through pastoral support, work experience opportunities alongside your learning to help with 1:1 careers advice.”
She also outlines the opportunities available in the UK upon graduation, “We offer those who successfully complete an eligible course, the opportunity to continue in the UK on a graduate visa for two years after your studies end, or three years for PhDs. To work, to live and to contribute.”
Commenting on the video, Professor Tim Jones, Vice Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, said, “I warmly welcome the Secretary of State’s video message to international students, which gives an excellent reminder of just some of the many reasons why international students choose to study in the UK.
“Here at Liverpool we pride ourselves on providing our international students with the best possible experience.
