
As the start of semester two teaching approaches, we’ve rounded up some of the extracurricular opportunities available this term, whether you’re looking to enhance your employability or just try something completely new.
Open Languages: enrol now for 2025
Open Languages, the University’s language programme, offers language-learning opportunities from complete beginner to advanced, in a range of languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Open Languages (OL) is available to all undergraduate students, either as an elective choice (where your course permits this), or as an addition to your studies. If you take OL as an extracurricular activity, it’ll also be added to your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) if you pass the module.
Semester two’s modules begin the week beginning Monday, 27 January so be quick to avoid missing out!
Global opportunities – deadlines for Year Abroad, Year in China and Semester Abroad
Our global opportunities offer different pathways for you to to study, work or volunteer abroad as part of your degree, This is a chance for you to be fully immersed in a new culture, boost your employability and gain invaluable life and academic experiences.

Spring Careers and Part-time Jobs Fairs
As part of our on-campus employer-led events for 2024-25, our Career’s team are brining you Your Future Festival: Spring Careers Fair on Wednesday, 19 March and LivUni Spring Part-Time Jobs Fair on Wednesday, 5 February.
At the Careers Fair, employers from a range of sectors will be joining us on campus to meet students and recent graduates exclusively from the University of Liverpool.
The Part-Time Jobs Fair will feature employers looking to recruit students for various part-time, temporary, or casual roles, with opportunities both across the Liverpool region and on-campus at the University.
Guild Leadership Programme
Whether you’re a first year or final year, you may already be thinking about your next steps after university. The Guild Leadership Programme is a range of events and opportunities designed to help you boost your employability, grow your skills and develop as a leader.
From Society Committee and Student Officer roles to ‘Introduction to’ events, there are a whole host of ways to get involved, with a range of commitment levels.

Volunteering opportunities
Volunteering is a great way to enhance your CV, make friends, and boost your personal skills, whilst also giving something back to the wider community.
The Guild offers a host of ways to volunteer, whether on campus or with organisations outside the University. There are currently more than 70 volunteering roles being advertised on their website, ranging from Social Media volunteer to volunteer Art Assistant amongst others.
