Make friends, socialise and stay active with our sports clubs

Being part of a University club or team is a fantastic way to make friends and socialise and, through our huge array of sports clubs, you get to stay active too.

There is a whole heap of opportunities – 50 clubs and counting – waiting out there for students to take advantage of, from football and netball to cricket and cheerleading, there’s a club for everyone. We’ve randomly selected a few choices to give you a better idea about the options you have:

Futsal

Futsal is a variant of football, which is played on a smaller inside court with five players per side. They currently compete with two teams in British Universities and Colleges sports leagues (BUCS), including a hugely successful first team, which currently competes in the BUCS sport leagues 1a division and a second team competing in BUCS 3a. Both teams train together every Thursday and Friday 8-10pm at the University sports hall. The team offers a large variety of social events run by their social secretary. Get details.

Korfball

Korfball is the world’s largest mixed-gender ball sport. Haven’t heard of it? We hadn’t either! In short, it’s similar to basketball and netball with a few different rules and girls and boys play on the same team. The team plays competitively in BUCS and also in the Christie Cup. Training times vary depending what team you’re in and you can find out more here.

Mountaineering

If rock climbing, bouldering, hill walking, mountaineering or simply being in the great outdoors is your thing this could be the club for you. No experience is necessary and it’s up to you whether you’d like to be considered for competition, or you just do it for pleasure. Training involves the use of the indoor climbing facilities in the city on Monday evenings and Wednesday afternoons and there are regular socials meet ups too. Read more.

Skydiving

Whether you’re contemplating your first jump or you have 20 under your belt already, Skydiving club could be for you. Full training is available for novices and extra training to perfect free-fall skills is available for all. There are regular socials, both in and out the drop zone, and the chance to jump competitively if that’s something for you. Learn more.

Ultimate frisbee

Looking for a non-contact sport ideal for players of all abilities? Look no further than Ultimate Frisbee! There are men’s, women’s and mixed teams available and lots of competitions to enter, which could take you all over the country. Training takes place Monday, Tuesday and Thursday in the evening at the sports hall and Wyncote Sports Grounds. There are social events throughout the year too, including themed parties and games nights. Get the details.
