University of Liverpool student team triumphs at young enterprise final

A team of Psychology students from the University of Liverpool has claimed first place at the Young Enterprise UK North-West Start-Up Final 2025, securing their spot in the national competition.

The winning team, Passing Presence, comprised Paris Read, Rory Montgomerie, Carágh Gray, and Holly Hadley, impressed the judges with their innovation, presentation skills, and entrepreneurial spirit. They were named Best Overall Company at the event, along with the Best Presentation Award, demonstrating their ability to pitch their business with confidence and  clarity.

Jen Foden-James from the University’s Careers and Employability team said: “We are incredibly proud of the team and delighted that their dedication and innovative approach have secured them a place in the Young Enterprise UK Start-Up Final. Competing on a national stage is a fantastic opportunity, and we look forward to seeing their continued success.”

Celebrating innovation and entrepreneurship

The University of Liverpool had the privilege of hosting this year’s Young Enterprise North-West Start-Up Final, welcoming 11 student teams from across the region to compete in the prestigious event.

The competition featured a series of engaging activities, including trade stand judging, individual interviews for the Student of the Year and Student Journey awards, and formal presentation practice sessions. Participants also had the chance to network with business leaders, fellow competitors, and esteemed guests, gaining invaluable insights and connections.

Onward to the National Final

Following their regional success, the team will now represent the North-West at the Young Enterprise UK Start-Up Final on 14 May 2025. Congratulations to our outstanding students on their success, and best of luck at the finals in May!
