
The University of Liverpool has seen an increased number of subjects ranking within the top 100 in the 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject, which ranks subject areas at 1,747 leading Universities across the globe.
12 University of Liverpool subjects have achieved a position within the global top 100 in 2025, a rise from 8 subjects in the 2024 ranking.
These subjects are:
- English
- Veterinary Science
- Medicine
- Pharmacy & Pharmacology
- Petroleum Engineering
- Anatomy & Physiology
- Nursing
- Archaeology
- Geography
- Architecture
- Marketing
- Classics
15 subjects have improved rank since last year. Those include Accounting, Architecture, Biosciences, Business, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering and Electronics, English, Mechanical Engineering, Geography, History, Maths, Languages, Nursing, Petroleum Engineering and Psychology.
All subjects at the University of Liverpool rank within the top 300 globally.
These subject-level rankings follow the University’s 11-place institutional rise to 165th position in the QS World University Rankings 2025, announced in summer 2024.
Professor Tim Jones, Vice-Chancellor at the University of Liverpool said: “It’s encouraging to see 15 of our subjects rise through these important global rankings, along with an increased number of subjects now placing within the top 100. I appreciate the hard work of the many colleagues who have contributed to this improved position, which is one of a number of league table successes for the University over the past year.”
