The PGR Development Network’s next networking event will take place on Tuesday 20 May, 11am-12.30pm, in the Researcher Room of the Sydney Jones Library.
This will be an informal gathering where you can connect with other PGRs and engage in some light-hearted activities that reflect on PGR life. There will be free tea, coffee, and biscuits.
This is the second PGR Networking Event of the 2024-25 academic year, following on from a successful and well-attended event in December 2024.
“I had a great time at the event,” said Kunal, who attended the December event. “Best of all, I got to meet other PhD students that I wouldn’t have met otherwise. The activity itself was very interesting. We answered questions that relied on our experiences in research. It really helped everyone to open up and have a candid conversation in a room full of PhD students!”
More about the PGR Development Network
After a brief hiatus, the PGR Development Network, or PGRDevNet for short, returned in autumn 2024.
The network is a peer-led initiative, run on a voluntary basis by PGRs, for PGRs. Its work is supported by The Academy, the University’s professional development hub.
PGRDevNet exists to bring together PGRs from across all faculties, forming a supportive and inclusive community that provides opportunities for personal and professional development, fosters connections, and acts as a PGR voice within the University.
The network’s leadership group is made up of PGRs from various schools and departments, who work together to organise events and opportunities tailored to the diverse needs of our vibrant PGR community.
More PGR Development Network activities
PGRDevNet runs a variety of activities each month.
Coffee & Connect sessions provide an informal space where PGRs can meet and chat with other PGRs. These take place on the third Thursday of every month, 11.30am-12.30pm. They alternate between taking place in-person and online. More information about “Coffee & Connect” can be found here.
Lunch & Learn events provide an opportunity for PGRs to enhance their knowledge and skills on a particular development topic over a short, informal, lunchtime session. More information about “Lunch & Learn” events can be found here.
Our e-bulletin is packed with news and opportunities, from courses and conferences to the latest funding calls. This is sent out monthly to all PGRs. PGRDevNet also organises larger networking events like the above mentioned one on 20 May.
