When it comes to exams and assessments, preparation is key. Building a clear study plan, using effective revision techniques and knowing how to approach exam questions can make a real difference to both confidence and performance.

To help you get ready for the assessment period, the Library’s KnowHow team and the English Language Centre are offering a range of support sessions designed to help you revise smarter.

You can do these sessions at any time, just fit them around your studying and other commitments to make sure you’re as prepared as possible for exam season.

1:1 Academic Writing consultations (online)
The ELC is offering 30-minute, online bookable sessions with our highly specialised language tutors, who are experts in both language development and academic writing. These consultations are available to all students across the University and can be tailored to any aspect of writing – from structuring assignments and developing arguments to improving clarity, style and academic language.

Academic Writing workshops (in-person and online)
These sessions focus on core assessment skills such as building a clear argument, writing critically and communicating ideas concisely. They are practical workshops where you not only develop your understanding but also apply what you learn through guided activities, with opportunities for feedback in a supportive environment.

Academic Speaking workshops (in-person and online)
These workshops focus on helping you to build and present persuasive arguments, summarise key points effectively, and introduce critical perspectives. They are highly practical and developmental, giving you the chance to practise explaining complex academic ideas in an engaging way for different audiences, within an inclusive and supportive setting.
