Property and Campus Services (PCS) has refreshed the University’s ‘2222 Emergency Information’ making it quicker and easier to get the information you need, when it matters most.
The information, which provides simple steps to follow on ‘action cards’ for different emergency scenarios, has moved to a new web-based platform to provide more reliable, up-to-date information at your fingertips.
Staff and students using ‘MWS devices’ (all university-owned devices, including those in our libraries and other study spaces) will find an updated desktop item in red (which links to this page) making it more visible and easier to access in an emergency situation.
How you can help keep our campus safe and secure
In the same way we all remain vigilant against cyber threats on our digital devices, it is important we look out for each other in our physical environment.
There are some simple steps you can take to ensure you are playing your part:
-
Download the University SafeZone app
SafeZone is a free safety and wellbeing app that allows you to contact Campus Support Services for assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week when you’re on campus. It uses geofencing so when you open the app and request help, your location is automatically shared with Campus Support’s control room to ensure that the right assistance arrives quickly.

-
Review the information and action cards on our emergency information pages
The page provides information about what to do in the event of an emergency and specific documents for emergency procedures. It can be accessed from this link, or via the red ‘2222’ icon on any university-owned laptop, PC or other device.
-
Contact Campus Support Services if you have any queries (non-emergency 0151 794 3252)
In an emergency on campus please call 0151 794 2222 to speak to Security Services. If someone’s life is in danger or a serious crime is taking place call 999 immediately.

UK threat level
As you will be aware, the UK Government has recently increased the national ‘threat level’ across the United Kingdom. This categorisation is kept under regular review and is used to inform security measures which are in place across many different settings – from shops and restaurants, to hospitals and schools.
Whilst we are not aware of any specific threats in our local area, our dedicated campus security teams work around the clock to ensure that our campus is safe and secure for all in our university community. Security measures are regularly reviewed and kept up to date and any updates will be shared on My Liverpool.
