Liverpool is set to celebrate summer in style, with a vibrant programme of free events taking place across the city centre from 18 June to 27 August. Whether you’re exploring with friends or looking for a relaxing break from studying, there’s something happening every week in some of Liverpool’s most iconic locations.

Organised and supported by Liverpool Business Improvement District, the programme is designed to help you unwind, stay active and make the most of summer – without spending a penny.

You can look forward to a mix of activities, including:

🎭 Street theatre and circus performances on Bold Street and at the Pier Head

🧘 Relaxing sound baths and chill-out sessions by the waterfront

🎯 Mini golf and games, plus food giveaways across key locations

Here are some of the standout events you won’t want to miss:

  • Pop-up tennis across the cityWarm up for the International Tennis Tournament with free pop-up courts. Locations include Castle Street, Mann Island, Williamson Square, Exchange Flags and more. No booking needed – just turn up, learn the basics, and play
  • Chess Weekender
    Challenge yourself or learn something new with sessions led by experts. Play against a grandmaster at Williamson Square (Friday 26 June) and take part in coaching sessions at Exchange Flags (Sunday 28 June)
  • Pop-up golf at St Pauls Square
    Get into the swing ahead of The Open with a 6-hole pop-up course from 6–10 July with some great prizes up for grabs.
  • Thursday Summer Pop-Ups
    Enjoy live music, giveaways, giant outdoor games and relaxed social spaces. Every Thursday in venues across the city centre.
  • Relaxing sound baths
    Take some time out with calming, immersive sessions in unique city spaces including Tempest rooftop in the Commercial District and the Cotton Exchange on Old Hall Steet.
