The University has secured ten Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships to boost our research excellence.
The MSCA Fellowships provides support for researchers seeking to enhance their careers through international mobility, training and interdisciplinary collaboration. They also enable fellows from outside the UK to undertake research at the University.
In this latest round, the Faculty of Science and Engineering secured seven Fellowships, including three for the Department of Chemistry which further strengthen the University’s Materials Discovery research frontier.
The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences was awarded two Fellowships, which support the research taking place within the Infection Resilience and Therapeutics Innovation frontiers. The Department of Music in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences also secured a Fellowship.
The successful projects are:
- AOGCNR: Autonomous optimisation of general conditions for novel reaction (Department of Chemistry)
- MEDAL-PCP: Machine-Learning Enabled Discovery of Advanced Low-Temperature Proton Conducting Perovskites Oxides (Department of Chemistry)
- MIGHTER: Mechanism Identification and High-Throughput Screening of Molecules for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction (Department of Chemistry)
- RDTNNC: Robust Design of Trustworthy Neural Network Controllers (Department of Computer Science)
- SAFE-WIND: Seismically-induced submarine landslide Assessment and probabilistic Framework for risk-informed siting and damage Evaluation of Offshore Wind turbines (Department of Civil Engineering)
- VITAL-Rim: Vision-Tactile-Language Integration for Robotic Interactive Manipulation (Department of Computer Science)
- REPLAMED: Controlling Reactive Species Delivery in Cold Plasma Jets: A key challenge in Plasma Medicine (Department of EEE)
- ATLAS: African Typhimurium Lineages Adaptation Study (Department of Clinical Infection, Microbiology and Immunology)
- SYNTH HORSE: Trojan‑Horse Siderophore–Teixobactin Conjugates to Defeat Gram‑Negative Superbugs (Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics)
- HAELM DF: Historical Atlas of European Live Music: Digital Framework (Department of Music)
Together, these ten Fellowships represent funding of more than €2.75 million.
This latest success follows the awarding of seven MSCA Fellowships last year.
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) are one of the European Commission’s flagship funding schemes within the Horizon Europe Research & Innovation programme.
They form part of Pillar 1, ‘Excellent Science’, which aims to promote scientific excellence and attract highly skilled researchers and innovators to Europe.
