More than 350 people packed the Sherrington Lecture Theatre for the Inaugural Fred Freeman Lecture on Philanthropy.

Guest speaker Cherie Blair barrister and honorary graduate, spoke on ‘Big Hearts, grand ambitions, how Merseyside’s past should inspire a new generation of philanthropy’.

The lecture was made possible by a donation from the family of the late Fred Freeman who received an Honorary Degree in 2007, shortly before his death.

Helen O’Donnell, Head of Development in Corporate Communications said:  “We were delighted to have such a distinguished speaker to give the inaugural lecture in the series and to see so many people who knew Fred Freeman join his family, the University and budding Merseyside philanthropists to celebrate his charitable legacy.”
