The University has been successful in its bid to host the European Congress of Obesity in 2013.
The UK Association for the Study of Obesity beat off competition from Moscow, Munich, Copenhagen and Gottenberg to host the event in Liverpool. The winning bid was made by the Merseyside Partnership and Professor John Wilding from the School of Psychology.
The conference will see 3,000 obesity scientists coming to Liverpool. It will raise the profile of the research undertaken at University in the Department of Obesity and Endocrinology within the Institute of Ageing and Chronic Diseases.
