A researcher in the Department of Chemistry has been awarded a prestigious European Research Council (ERC) grant.
Dr Darren Bradshaw will receive £1.5 million over the next five years for a project ‘Biomineral-inspired growth and processing of metal-organic frameworks (BIOMOF)’.
The leading-edge research project will develop chemically flexible routes for the processing of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) into application-specific configurations to address key societal challenges in healthcare, energy and sustainability.
MOFs are state-of-the-art porous materials with potential use in drug delivery, gas-storage and catalysis. Developing strategies by which to process them is important for their feasibility in these applications and the future of the research field.
