Staff are invited to listen to a podcast of the Better Births webinar which was hosted earlier this month by the Alumni Relations team.
The webinar explores the groundbreaking research currently being undertaken by the University and Liverpool Women’s NHS Foundation Trust to help make pregnancy and childbirth safer for women and babies across the world.
This is the second research-led webinar to be hosted by the Alumni Relations team, following on from the Preventing Equine Colic webinar broadcast in February. It provides an opportunity to hear first-hand from the experts behind this research – Professor Sue Wray from Cellular and Molecular Physiology, and Professor Jim Neilson, Head of the School of Reproductive and Developmental Medicine.
Professor Wray is recognised as a world leader for her research into the uterus and smooth muscle physiology and she has published more than 150 papers and reviews which focus on the increasing caesarean section rate in the western world.
Professor Neilson is an academic clinician with an excellent track record in getting his research results quickly into clinical practice. He is particularly interested in difficult labours, miscarriages, high-risk pregnancies and determining the best treatments for pregnant women working with midwifery staff.
