Chief Executive for the BBSRC gives Science and Society Lecture

In the third 2011 Science and Society lecture, Professor Douglas Kell, Chief Executive for the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) gave a talk questioning why should the taxpayer fund biosciences research, to an audience in the Leggate Theatre in the Victoria Gallery & Museum.

During the day Professor Kell opened a new laboratory for the study of proteomics at the Biosciences building and toured the facilities.

The next lecture in the series is on Tuesday 4 October when Professor Ada Yonath, Nobel Laureate and Director of the Kimmelman Centre for Biomolecular Structure and Assembly Department of Structural Biology at the Weizmann Institute will talk on ‘Elucidating the ribosome structure and constructing a middle East Peace accelerator (SESAME): two feasible goals although they originally seemed formidable’.
