Policy Provocations lecture series launches

Policy Provocations

The first of the Policy Provocations lectures has taken place.

The audience, from a broad range of areas, came together to hear Professor Susan Pedersen from Columbia University talk about the role of women and social enterprise in the country’s economic recovery and Professor Sandra Walklate from the School of Sociology and Social Policy offered a contemporary insight into gender mainstreaming and exclusion.

A panel discussion followed, chaired by Claire Dove, Chief Executive of Blackburne House Group. The panel included Professor Tom Cannon from the University of Liverpool Management School and Karen Lowthrop, Chief Executive of Hill Holt Wood.

The series brings local, national and international figures together to tackle big policy issues during these times of unprecedented change and celebrates Liverpool’s year of ‘City of Radicals’, which recognises a century of radicalism in Liverpool through various events, bringing different perspectives together in one series.

The next event is on Tuesday 7 June in the Victoria Gallery & Museum. Paul Mason, BBC Newsnight’s Economic Editor will speak on ‘Financial Meltdown, social collapse, can there be a new type of capitalism?

The event is free but tickets must be booked via the University website or by telephoning 0151 794 2650.
