The University’s £22 million Heating Infrastructure Project (HIP) has been successful in the annual Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) regional awards.
As reported on the University News site, the HIP was one of 13 buildings shortlisted in the North West region.
Project Manager Ian Murray said: “This is fantastic news and provides our project architects, Levitt Bernstein Associates, and the rest of the construction team with the recognition they deserve for completing the construction of an innovatively designed building that meets the University’s requirements so well.”
The citation stated that ‘the judges delighted in the economy, elegance and appropriateness of the solution and thought the main green generator within was itself worthy of an architectural award!’
The project will now go onto a long list, from which a short list will be selected for the coveted Stirling Prize.
This is the second accolade that the project received as it also received a Civic Trust award.
