Founder and Chairman of asset management company NewSmith Capital Partners and Chairman of the British Horseracing Authority, Paul Roy, has established a scholarship scheme for two full-time MBA degrees for UK students entering the University of Liverpool in 2012.
The scholarship will provide two students with a fully-funded place on the University’s MBA full-time programme, which runs over one year. The programme is designed to offer high-level management and leadership development in an innovative and relevant format. Widely regarded as the gold standard in executive development, the MBA is aimed at people who want to make significant changes to their career and take on more strategic leadership roles.
Details of the Paul Roy scholarship will be discussed at the MBA Open Evening at the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, 8 February. Students interested in studying on the course will have the opportunity to hear from the academic staff from the Management School and discuss the programme and careers support that the University offers. There will also be CV clinics run by admissions staff to give students immediate feedback on their eligibility for the course.
Paul Roy graduated from the University with a BA Honours in Economics in 1968 and was awarded an honorary degree 2009. Paul will meet the successful recipients of the scholarship to consider them for an internship in his own company or arrange an opportunity in a similar organisation.

The MBA programme at the University of Liverpool has adapted its modules in line with the demands of top businesses to ensure that its students gain the valuable work experience that employers seek.
“This new scholarship recognises that there are many talented people in the UK who may not have had the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge required to apply for top executive level roles. I hope the scholarship will allow the successful candidate to fulfil their ambitions and start them on the path of a rewarding career.”

The MBA Open Evening will take place at Liverpool Chamber of Commerce, Old Hall Street, on Wednesday, 8 February at 5.30pm.
