A delegation of senior GPs and public health specialists from China is visiting the University of Liverpool to learn about health services in the UK and the primary care offered through GPs surgeries.
The group of 18 directors and leaders from the Jing’an Health Bureau in Shanghai is spending two weeks in Liverpool learning about the UK medical and public health systems and the management of GPs. The delegation will also observe GP practices to gain a firsthand perspective of primary care services.
Professor Mark Gabbay, Head of Department for Health Services Research at the University and a GP at Brownlow Medical Practice, said: “This is a great opportunity to showcase the city’s NHS general practice and primary care provision. We are delighted that senior health officials and medics from Shanghai want to visit Liverpool to learn about our primary care services, which are widely acknowledged as world leading. It furthermore represents the strong links that exist between the University and the city with Shanghai and China.”
