A group of delegates from across India have been welcomed to the Foresight Centre as part of the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) course.

The course was hosted by IMPACT, the International Health Impact Assessment Consortium in the Department of Public Health and Policy, and the Institute of Psychology, Health and Society.

The 18 representatives from 12 states and territories attended the course which was an addition to the annual programme of HIA KE and CPD offered by IMPACT.

Initiated by the South East Asia Office of the World Health Organisation, the course was lead by Dr Alex Scott-Samuel, Senior Lecturer in Public Health and Policy and Hilary Dreaves, Research Fellow (HIA), IMPACT.

The course included HIA concepts, procedures and methods, critical appraisal and quality assurance, put into practice through participation in a case study, together with elements on community participation, international practice and HIA experiences from the field.

Hilary said: “Evaluations demonstrated a high level of satisfaction, both on what was a new topic to most delegates, and also with new ways of participatory learning, and we had many complimentary comments.”

The delegates also attended a football match and the Beatles Story.
