The University’s Computer Science Department will this week host a free one-day symposium to encourage collaboration between academia and industry. The department is playing host to a number of blue chip companies including; Barclays, IBM and BAE Systems who will provide insights into some of the key, high-level computing challenges facing their organisations.
Presentations will cover: increasing the value realised from exploiting information and analytics; Cloud Computing; the challenges posed by the emergence of complex interacting systems; understanding the user perspective and the benefits of advanced technological applications; and the challenge of turning raw data into valuable information.
During the event there will be plenty of opportunities to network allowing delegates to; discuss potential areas for collaboration, develop insights to inform future research and teaching, and highlight opportunities to create impact.
In addition to presentations from industry, computer scientists will talk about the novel technologies and cutting-edge research currently being undertaken within the University’s Computer Science department.
This event is being supported by the University’s Business Gateway who are available to support academics develop collaborative relationships with industry.
