Launch of The Global Connection

A new initiative at the University to promote and encourage language exchange and cultural sharing on campus has been launched.

Hosted by Student Support Services, The Global Connection is a central source of information about English language classes, conversation groups and cultural exchange in Liverpool.

More than 80 home and international students gathered at the Careers & Employability Service to learn about initiative and to hear how they could get involved.

Guild Vice President Chi-Chi Nwokoro gave an overview of cultural activities and there were presentations from Café Home, Café Connect, Talking Shop, the Faith Express Conversation Group and the Confucius Institute.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Internationalisation, Professor Michael Hoey explained how students could take advantage of the opportunities the University had to offer. He said: “Making the most of your time at University is ‘as easy as ABC’: – approach others, befriend them and communicate your own culture and experiences.”

Commenting on the event, Chi-Chi Nwokoro said: “This has been a great way of letting students know about the opportunities available to them. Everyone left excited, inspired and ready for the best experience ever!”
