The Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics and the School of Engineering have welcomed Year 12 students from local schools as part of the Engineering Education Scheme (EES).
The scheme is the largest provider of science, technology, engineering and mathematics enrichment activities for UK youth, and offers students a chance to solve engineering problems set by industry partners to get a practical taste of engineering.
Dr Leah Ridgway, a Lecturer in the department who organised the visit, led 18 teams of sixth formers from schools across the North West for three days of workshops. Pupils took part in projects to design, build and test an engineering model as well as talking to staff and students and finding out about the different careers available in science and engineering.
