A donation of more than £1,000 has been given to the Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre thanks to generous staff at a cancer drug research centre.
Members of the team from Redx Oncology, presented the cheque to Professor John Neoptolemos, The Owen & Ellen Evans Chair of Surgery at the University, and an international expert in the treatment of pancreatic cancer who works with the Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre.
Members of the team at Redx Oncology handed over a cheque for £1,020 to the Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre at a special event after they raised the money through various events including their Christmas raffle.
The Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre brings together scientists, doctors and nurses to boost key areas of research that will produce the greatest benefits for cancer patients in Liverpool, Merseyside and Cheshire. The Centre also focuses on tackling cancer in low income communities in the region, where more people die from the disease.
Redx Oncology, is a private-sector centre for pre-clinical research and novel anti-cancer drug development, which launched in April last year and works closely with the Liverpool Cancer Research UK Centre to explore how links and relationships can be developed.
