Four University of Liverpool students have been awarded Santander scholarships to study outside of Europe as part of their degree programme.
Communications and Business Studies student Victoria Yusuf has been awarded one of the scholarships to study at the University of Toronto in Canada for the first semester of the next session, alongside Business student Daniel Clavell, who is heading out to City University in Hong Kong.
Amy Brown is going to Australia for the second semester in the next session to continue Business Studies at the University of Newcastle, alongside Psychology student Sophie West who will attend Monash University in Australia.
The scholarships are part of an agreement with international banking giant Santander – a partnership which, last year, saw the University of Liverpool join 55 other UK universities and over 1,010 in 16 countries that are now collaborating with the bank through its Santander Universities Global Division.
Commenting on her scholarship, Amy Brown said: “I’m delighted to have been awarded one of the Santander scholarships. Studying in Australia will be an amazing experience, and I’ve no doubt that it will help me a lot on the road to employment after graduation.”
Sophie West added: “This is a great opportunity not only to experience what it’s like to study in another country, but also to reap the benefits of such an amazing life experience.”
The trips are arranged as part of the University’s study abroad programme, and the modules the students undertake at the partner institutions will be transferred as module credits to their full degree programme at Liverpool.
The study abroad programme is run by the Study Abroad Team (SAT) at the University’s Student Recruitment and Admissions Office and gives students the opportunity to study in North America, South America, Australia or Asia as part of their undergraduate degree. SAT also administer the University’s participation in the European Commission’s Erasmus Exchange Programme, one of the most successful EU initiatives.
