The University’s Residential, Sport and Commercial Services Department has achieved the Investors in People Bronze (IiP) award for its excellent management, development, and leadership of people.
Investors in People is the UK’s leading people management standard, which specialises in transforming business performance through people.
The department attained the accreditation following a rigorous external assessment process, which included interviews with a cross section of staff from the department.
Transformational Leadership
The UK Commission for Employment and Skills, who run the scheme, praised RSCS for their “transformational leadership” noting that this has contributed to high levels of staff morale and a culture where “people seem willing to go the extra mile for the University, students and their colleagues.”
The department successfully attained an additional 53 criteria than needed for Bronze, and is close to meeting the requirements for a Silver award.
Director of RSCS, Catherine Anderson said: “I am thrilled with the outcome as we have absorbed lots of new service areas since our last assessment three years ago, gone through a number of major restructures and expanded our service provision – a real achievement. It represents a milestone for the department and demonstrates a solid foundation for good practice. I would like to express my gratitude to all our staff for their hard work and commitment.”
